Jordan-Turkey, Politics, 2/27/1998
During his meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem, Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Abdul-Salam al-Majali said that there is a need for tangible steps to revive Palestinian - Israeli negotiations.
Majali praised Ankara's role in defusing the Iraqi crisis with UN. Cem visited Iraq at the height of the crisis to help find a diplomatic solution and avert a military strike.
"Jordan continues to play a leading role in the region," Cem said.
Cem earlier stressed the close ties of friendship between Jordan and his country. "Jordan and Turkey," he said, "will have much to accomplish together."
