Sheikha Fatima send donations to Iraq
United Arab Emirates-Iraq, People, 2/25/1998

Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, wife of President Zayed Bin Sultan al-Nahyan of the UAE, on Tuesday called for humanitarian aid to be sent to Iraq.

AFP on Tuesday quoted UAE dailies as saying the decision was taken following a report Sheikha Fatima received from a UAE delegation and the Red Crescent Society which visited Iraq this week.

A committee formed by UAE Defense Minister Sheikh Muhammad Bin Rashid al-Maktoum to raise donations for the Iraqi people held a meeting on Tuesday.

The UAE was among the first of the Gulf countries to send humanitarian aid to Iraq, especially food and medicine for children. The family of the UAE president has been involved in this effort including the children.
