Russian Duma chief arrives in Damascus

Chairman of the state Duma (parliament) of the Russian Federation, Genady Seleznev, arrived Damascus Tuesday night heading up a parliamentary delegation.
In an arrival statement at the airport, Selezev said that his country, as a cosponsor of the Middle East peace process, is concerned with the implementation of UN resolutions.
Concerning Syrian-Russian relations, the Russian official stressed the importance of fostering these relations, noting the "successful visit recently paid by the Russian minister of Justice to Syria and the agreements he signed with Syrian officials." He said his talks in Damascus will concentrate on developing bilateral parliamentary relations between the two countries.
