Algerian President meets Japanese envoy

Algerian President Liamine Zeroual on Monday received the Japanese Prime Minister's special envoy, who is also chairman of the Japanese parliamentary delegation currently visiting Algeria.
In a statement following the meeting, the Japanese envoy said he conveyed a message from the Japanese Prime Minister Hashimoto to the Algerian president expressing congratulations on the formation of political institutions in Algeria.
He elaborated that his talks with the Algerian president dealt with economic and technological cooperation between the two countries and the Iraqi crisis. He stressed that views were similar between Japan and Algeria on the need to find out a diplomatic and peaceful outlet for the said crisis.
