EU humanitarian aid to Iraq

The European Union on Tuesday decided to offer humanitarian aid to Iraq at a cost of 10 million European Currency Units ECU (US $11 million) in the coming months.
A spokesman for the European Commission said on Tuesday that the donation will be dispatched to feed children who suffer from malnutrition, help victims of land mines, maintain sewage, enhance medical services and renovate orphanages, AFP reported.
The spokesman added that the Humanitarian Affairs Commission in the European Union will make a new evaluation of Iraq's humanitarian needs by the end of 1998.
