Five agreements between Syria and Russia

Five agreements on economic, trade, technical, scientific and tourism cooperation between Russia and Syria were signed on Monday at the Central Bank in Damascus.

Syrian minister of the economy Muhammad al-Imadi and Russian Minister of Justice Sergey Stepashin signed two documents pertaining to the Syrian - Russian joint committee and trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The two documents also provide for means to strengthen current and future bilateral cooperation in the fields of irrigation, health, banking scientific cooperation, transport, industry and qualifying Syrian cadres in Russia.

Syrian Finance Minister Khaled Mahayni and Stepashin signed an accord to prevent double-taxation. The accord is aimed at promoting economic cooperation and trade and investment exchange between Syria and Russia.

Tourism Minister Danhu Dawoud and the Russian deputy tourism minister signed a tourism cooperation agreement providing for expanding and encouraging cooperation in tourism on a balanced basis ensuring mutual benefits, the exchange of tourism groups, tourism marketing and promotion, exchanging expertise and training and encouraging visits by writers and journalists in order to acquaint them with tourism potentials in each of the two countries.

The Syrian director of the Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Ibrahim Othman, signed with the Russian minister of energy a cooperation agreement for peaceful use of energy in health and environmental fields.
