Lebanese resistance escalated against Israeli occupation
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 2/24/1998

Lebanese national resistance forces on Monday attacked with machine-guns and rockets two Israeli positions in Bilatt and Radar areas in the occupied strip of south Lebanon.

In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said the attack inflicted direct hits on the two positions. The resistance also attacked Israeli positions al-Tiba project hill and al-Dabasheh.

Those operations were in retaliation for Israeli shelling of a Lebanese town on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Israeli troops attacked the towns and villages adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon. Israeli troops carried out large mopping up campaigns in the surroundings of the bombarded areas.

In the evening, Israeli forces resumed operations in areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon and the western Bekaa. Lebanese security sources reported that at 6 p.m. (Lebanon local time) Israeli artillery batteries shelled Jabal al-Dahr hills, Qatrani, Sarira and Jabal Abu Rashid. Al-Rahrah, Aqmata farm, Litani river, al-Rafi' mount, al-Akhdar valley, and al-Slouki valley also came under Israeli bombardment.
