Moroccan government settles the issue of Garada Mines laborers

Rabat is currently negotiating a settlement for laborers in a mine the government decided to close.
Official sources in Rabat said that the central unions and authorities signed an agreement protecting the benefits of laborers in the Garada mines, near the Moroccan - Algerian border, after its coal stock ran out, causing their loss of jobs.
Moroccan Minister of Energy Edris Banhima said that the negotiations with the central unions enabled them to find a settlement for what was discribed as a difficult and sensitive problem.
The governmental resolution aims to close the mine gradually by the year 2001, according to the plan that aims to reduce the number of laborers in the mine.
