Syrian-Egyptian unity anniversary celebrated

Marking the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Syrian-Egyptian unity, a symposium was opened in Cairo on Sunday at al-Ahram press institution. It was organized by al-Ahram's strategic and political studies center on Syrian - Egyptian unity.
A member of the Syrian National Progressive Front, Fayez Ismael, said the Arab masses all over the Arab world are looking forward to Arab unity. He noted the role played by the forces of colonialism and Zionism for the dedication of dismemberment and the undermining of the Syrian - Egyptian unity.
The two-day symposium will tackle several interesting issues such as: the economic and social structure of 1958's united Syrian - Egyptian state, its cessation and its impact on the pan-Arab and international levels. Egypt's approach to unity, the future of Arab unity, and developments of unity bids after the United Arab Republic experience will also be discussed.
