Tunisia: $6 billion to link the African countries

Tunisian Minister of Communications Ahmed Koria, who met with African communication managers, confirmed a project worth an estimated $6 billion to link the African countries with an underwater cable that will allow easier integration with international communications systems.
The network will link 39 points on African coasts. The interior countries will be linked to the underwater net by a land cable and by satellites.
Ministers of communications in the African countries in a meeting held in Tunis in last September decided to establish a 39,000-kilometer cable with the capacity to carry 240,000 phone calls at the same time.
