First Jordanian killed, three wounded in demonstration over Iraq

One Jordanian was killed and another three were wounded in Maan, 22 Km, south of Amman by Jordanian security forces today while curbing a large demonstration staged against US threats to strike Iraq.
Eyewitnesses said that the security attempted to disperse the demonstrators by force resulting in clashes between the two sides.
Meanwhile, Jordanian security authorities arrested on Friday chairman of the Jordanian Engineers Union, Laith Shbeilat, on charges of provoking people to demonstrate.
In a statement on Today, Jordan's Minister of the Interior Nazir Rashid said Shbeilat was arrested under the charge of inciting public disorder. Minister Rashid admitted the death of the Jordanian citizen, Muhammad Abdullah al-Katib, and the wounding of another three.
