Qaddoumi Desert's Storm is an American arrogance
Palestine, Politics, 2/20/1998
The head of the political department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Farouk Qaddoumi described operation Desert Storm, which struck Iraq in 1991, as a show of "American arrogance", saying that its goal was to destroy the whole peace process and lead the region into war.
Qaddoumi also expressed his readiness to visit Baghdad, clarifying that he met Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Said El-Sahaf in Damscus, and Palestinian President Yasser Arafat sent a special delegation to the Iraqi president.
Qaddoumi also called for establishing wide-ranging consultation, culminating in an Arab summit conference. He also said that the Israeli - Palestinian track is in a deadlock, and they were hoping that U.S. would exert efforts to this regard, but it is incapable to exert any effort to revive peace talks.
Finally, Qaddoumi called for the UN secretary-general to continue his mission of rescuing the region from the danger posed by a US military strike against Iraq.
