Al-Bashir elected chairman of the Sudanese national congress

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir was on Thursday elected as chairman of the National Congress and Hassan al-Turabi was elected as secretary-general to the congress.
Sudanese official sources said the congress' 6,500-members have also elected Sharif Zein al-Abidin deputy chairman. Al-Turabi, however, replaced in the secretary-general post Ghazi Salaeddine who occupied this post for the past two years.
