Morocco: We're number one in the world in phosphates
Morocco, Business, 2/20/1998
Morad El-Sherif the general manager of the Sherif Bureau for Phosphates said Morocco had improved its position in the world market for phosphate and its derivatives in 1997.
Morocco's raw phosphate exports formed about 30% of total international exports, up from 2% in 1996, and by this it assumed the first position internationally.
The manager also added that revenues from the bureau's phosphate exports reached $1.5 billion, and he's expecting that these revenues will rise to $2 billion by the year 2000, through the expansion of markets in India, Pakistan, and China.
