Iraqi, Iranian foreign ministers meet in Tehran

A round of talks was held on Wednesday in Tehran between Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi and his Iraqi counterpart Muhammad al-Sahaf who arrived in Tehran earlier in the day.
The latest developments of the current crisis between Iraq and the US and international efforts exerted to find a peaceful resolution for it were discussed. Al-Sahaf briefed his Iranian counterpart on the results of his talks with officials in the countries he had visited on reaching a solution to the crisis through diplomatic means.
Kharazi said his country's position that implementation of UN resolutions does not require the use of force, but Iraqi cooperation with UN inspectors. He asserted the need not to spare any political efforts to implement UN resolutions and to preserve the dignity of the Iraqi people.
Al-Sahaf called upon Iran, being the current President of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, to proceed efforts to settle the crisis through diplomatic channels.
