British Labor deputies oppose strikes against Iraq
Iraq, International, 2/18/1998
The British House of Commons on Tuesday witnessed a stormy session, in which several members of the ruling Labor party objected to the decision taken by London to take part in possible military strikes against Iraq.
The resolution passed with overwhelming majority.
Some 16 Labor Party deputies said they oppose a draft bill proposed by the government to the House of Commons on using all necessary means, including force to implement UN resolutions in Iraq.
Meanwhile, a poll of British public opinion on Tuesday said the majority of the British people oppose the use of force against Iraq because of its grave results on the people of Iraq.
