Military forces on the Iraqi borders

Jordanian diplomatic sources told ArabicNews.com that neighbor countries have military forces on their borders with Iraq on standby in case of any sudden surprises in the US - Iraq crisis.

They also said that everyone is acting as if a war will erupt at any time and that Jordanian security forces are taking all necessary steps to prepare for a possibile flood of Iraqi refugees.

The source expressed his anxiety over the possibility of a halt in Iraqi petroleum to Jordan during any military attacks or operations.

The chairman of the experts group sent by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Staffan de Mistura said, "I hope for the current crisis to be solved. I am here for this purpose.

The delegation met with Iraqi Petroleum Minister Amer Rashid and with the deputy foreign minister, Riyadh Al-Kais.
