Egypt, Pakistan maintain security cooperation
Egypt, Politics, 2/18/1998
Egyptian Minister of the Interior Lt. Gen. Habib al-Adli and his Pakistani counterpart, Shoudri Hussein, on Monday expressed mutual interest in expanding bilateral security relations.
Following a meeting with al-Adli, the Pakistani minister of interior stressed his country's desire to maintain security cooperation with Egypt and to ensuring a high degree of success in this regard.
Adli said, "Egypt welcomes cooperation in the context of firm relations linking the two countries." An Egyptian Ministry of Interior source said the two ministers reviewed "cooperation in fighting terrorism, exchanging information, fighting drug trafficking and forging of passports."
Egypt, however, has been demanding that Islamabad hand over extremist Islamist elements wanted for trial.
