Yemen increases fish production

Official statistical reports said that fish production in Yemen underwent significant growth in 1997, reaching 113,000 tons, a growth rate of 97% compared to 1996, with an expected growth rate of 10% in 1998.
Yemen has issued a new law to grant fishery operations a one-year fishing license and the Cabinet a 2-year fishing licence .
ArabicNews.com was informed that 8 private companies from Egypt, China, and Oman received licences to fish in Yemeni regional waters.
