Illegal demonstrators in Jordan dispersed by police

Jordanian anti-riot police dispersed about three thousand pro-Iraqi demonstrators who staged a rally in Amman despite its prohibition by the government.
The rally was staged after the Friday prayer in a main mosque in central Amman.
Islamist demonstrators were dispersed by policemen. The Islamist demonstrators chanted slogans in support of President Saddam Hussein of Iraq. Helicopters flew overhead.
The Jordanian government had informed the pro-Iraqi Saddam Hussein parties and unions leaders of its resolution to ban all rallies in such a sensitive circumstances, but they violated the ban.
Police detained a few of the union's leaders but said they would be released in matter of days.
