Qaddoumi and Hawatmah call for Arab summit on Iraq and Palestine
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 2/14/1998

Farouk Qaddoumi, the chairman of the political department for the Palestinian Liberation Organization, and the secretary of the Democratic Front to Liberate Palestine, Naif Hawatmah, called for a comprehensive Arab summit, including Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, to help Palestine and Iraq and formulate a new policy for Arab states' national security, based on providing positive climates for Arab relationships.

They called a united Arab position concerning these issues, which would focus on protecting the rights and interests of Arab and Middle East nations and announcing a united position in opposition to a military strike against Iraq, viewing it as an aggression against the whole Arab states, the statement said.

Qaddoumi and Abas Zaki, members of the central committee of the Fatah movement, held talks with Naif Hawatmah which addressed criticizing US threats of military action against Iraq.
