Qatar joins to help housing sector in Palestine

The Palestinian Ministry of Housing has decided to allocate some US $350 million dollars for housing projects during the 1998-2000 period, said Marwan Abdul Hamid, Assistant Deputy Minister of Housing.
He said that contacts were held with local banks to allocate with them $20 million dollars in cash to be used for granting long-term loans to citizens wishing to build new houses.
Abdul Hamid said that a US $10 million project funded by the Emir of Qatar will be completed before the end of this year and it will be designed to build housing units for low-income residents in Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip and Nablus on the West Bank.
