Sudanese president to receive final draft of constitution
Sudan, Politics, 2/12/1998

Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir received today the final draft of the Sudanese constitution.

The constitution committee pledged when leaders met the Sudanese president to make a list of all suggestions about which the members were negotiating and to include the different points of view in a separate report accompanying the draft.

The chairman of the committee Khalaf Allah El-Rashid said the project was not delivered last week, stating that the committee has presented a request to Bashir to extend its working period because the specified period is not long enough to discuss many items of the suggested constitution.

He said the committee's members are trying to determine which legislative councils are essential and whether to consolidate or separate the posts of president and prime minister.
