Santer arrives Damascus tomorrow

Chairman of the European Commission Jacques Santer is to arrive in Damascus Wednesday for a two-day visit to Syria on his regional tour, which started Friday in Egypt.
During his visit, Santer will meet with senior Syrian officials and will discuss bilateral relations between the European Union and Syria within the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership which started in Barcelona in 1995. The talks come in light of Syria's readiness to start negotiations with the European Union to sign the accord of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
Santer will visit archaeological sites and monuments in Aleppo and Palmyra, as well as the Syrian-European Business center in Aleppo.
