Jordan, Politics, 2/10/1998
King Hussein of Jordan arrived in Amman today following a visit to Britain during which he met with British Prime Minister Tony Blair and with US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and discussed the Iraqi crisis with her.
Later in the day, the King presided over a meeting of the Jordanian Cabinet, attended by senior army officers.
The participants discussed current developments in the region and possibilities relating to the Iraqi crisis.
The meeting was held at the request of Jordanian Prime Minister Abdul Salam al-Majali, who called for an urgent meeting to brief heads of municipalities on what is taking place in the region and to assess possible consequences of an expected US military strike against Iraq.
