Iraq's president to ask Egypt for an Arab solution
Iraq-Egypt, Politics, 2/10/1998
Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Said al-Sahaf will arrive tomorrow in Cairo from Syria carrying a written message from Iraqi President Saddam Hussein to the chairman of the Arab summit, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
Iraqi sources told ArabicNews.com, that Saddam's message implies a complete authorization for the Egyptian president to make communications with concerned parties in the Iraq crisis with the United Nations and that Saddam will agree to what is decided among Arab leaders, as long as the Egyptian president agrees to it.
Sahaf is also carrying another communique from the Iraqi president to the secretary-general of the Arab League, Esmat Abdel Meguid, which includes replies to the suggestions Meguid made during his recent visit to Baghdad.
