Syrian PNF meets on conditions in the region, Iraqi crisis

The central leadership of the Progressive National Front on Sunday held a meeting during which it listened to a comprehensive political report read by Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa on current conditions prevailing in Arab, regional and international arenas.
The leadership discussed the latest political developments, particularly regarding the peace process. The leadership stressed Syria's position on peace as a strategic option because of her belief that just and comprehensive peace is the only way to restore lands and rights and provide security and stability for all.
The leadership said that the nature of the current crisis and the US policy double standard, punishing Arab states but not Israel, would lead to more escalation and confrontation.
