Egyptians confiscates 750 tons of Cholera infected British fish
Egypt, Local, 2/7/1998

The Egyptian Ministry of Health decided to confiscate 3 shipments of frozen fish, a total of 750 tons, from Britain, after discovering their infection with cholera.

Dr. Mahmoud Khedr, undersecretary at the Health Ministry, confirmed that the analysis of health factors revealed the existence of strange substances in the fish, moreover the deterioration of the tissues lead to their rottenness. He also added that the three shipments which arrived in Alexandria were carrying one permit with an expiration date issued by the United Nations -- something that evoked suspicion about the three shipments upon their arrival in the harbor.

The analysis revealed that the fishes are infected by cholera. Thus the supervisor and health bodies at the ministry issued instructions to the Alexandria harbor department supervising the shipments to withold them until a resolution can be issued returning them to Britain.
