European delegation to visit Algeria tomorrow
Algeria, Politics, 2/7/1998

The Algerian Foreign Ministry said that a European parliamentary delegation's visit to Algeria will not include regions that have been sites of terrorist massacres.

The Foreign Ministry's spokesman said the delegation will meet with parliamentarians, officials of authorized political parties, and representatives of special newspapers.

The Algerian government refused the European Union's demands that the government allow an international inquiry into the massacres. The government also wants to focus the talks with the EU around halting Islamic extremists' activity abroad and enhancing economic cooperation.

Finally the Algerian government said that the security situation is under control and it doesn't pose any danger to national security.
