Sudan accuses foreign fronts of participating in Wau events
Sudan, Military, 2/7/1998
Sudan accused foreign elements of participating in attacks on Wau, the capital of Bahr El-Gazal state, last week.
El-Zobair Mohammed Saleh, deputy to the Sudanese president, said that foreign arms were involved in the assault on Wau and said the government army had taken precautions to face any future attacks.
He added in an interview with OM Darman radio that during his meeting with faction leaders (those who signed the El-Khartoum convention for peace) and some government ministers, that such an attack will never stop peace, emphasizing that all the parties involved in the convention should be committed to implementing its provisions.
He said that security had been restored in Bahr El-Gazal state and land and water travel was unhindered.
