Saudi Arabia, UK talk on bilateral issues
Saudi Arabia, International, 2/6/1998

Saudi Arabia on Thursday reiterated the need to make Israel abide by international resolutions and the principle of trading land for peace.

In a statement released Thursday evening, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on talks between the Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal and his British counterpart Robin Cook in Riyadh that the problem the ME peace process is facing is basically attributable to the intransigent position advocated by the Israeli government and its violations of obligations agreed upon in agreements signed with the Palestinians.

The statement praised the role of Britain in the peace process, and in its current position as President of the European Union. The statement said that Prince al-Faisal and Cook reviewed during their talks issues of mutual concern, especially those pertaining to the ME peace process and the current crisis in Iraq.
