Syrian President reviews developments with Iranian Shoura chief

Syrian President Hafez al-Assad on Wednesday discussed with the speaker of the Islamic Shoura council in Iran, Ali Akbar Nateq Nouri, developments and conditions in the Arab and Islamic arenas, rising challenges and means of facing them, and the implementation of the resolutions of the recent eighth Islamic summit conference in Tehran.
Nouri praised Syria's position and the key role it played in preparation of the said summit and underlined the importance of Syrian-Iranian relations for causes of the Arab and Islamic worlds.
Assad stressed the importance of maintaining solidarity and joint action between Arab and Muslim states to face hostile moves and protect the interests of Arabs and Muslims.
