Arab aid declines in 1997

The 1997 Arab economic report which was issued recently in Abu Dhabi said the Arab aid and assistance declined.
The report said the Arab development aid reached $102.5 billion over the last 25 years, 95.4 billion (83.1%) of which was offered by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia topped the list of donor countries, as it offered $65.7 billion, followed by Kuwait which offered $16.8 billion, and the UAE which offered $10.8 billion.
The report also said the Arab development aid increased tremendously during the nineties, as it increased from $1.7 billion in 1989 to $6.7 billion in 1990.
Saudi Arabian aid has decreased recently due to the Gulf War and the decline of the petroleum prices, as it reached about $1.3 billion between 1992 and 1995.
