Syrian minister opens annual cotton conference

Syria's minister of agriculture on Tuesday opened the 29th cotton conference in the city of Aleppo, in northern Syria.
In a speech the minister highlighted the qualitative leap of this year cotton crop which is over one million tons. "Thanks to the great efforts being exerted in the agriculture sector, Syria has occupied the eighth place in the world in the production of cotton," the minister said, SANA reported.
