Luxor Event a vote of confidence
Regional-Egypt, Culture, 2/4/1998

Luxor will witness an important political event Thursday, as a number of high level officials participating in the Mediterranean Forum will convene there.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa deputized his assistant for European Affairs, Ambassador Mohamed Fathi Shazly, to inaugurate the conference and preside over the sessions, which will last for one day.

Ambassador Shazly said the meetings of the Cultural and Social Committee of the Forum confirm Egypt's cultural position in the world. It is also a message of security and safety from Egypt to the world.

He said a number of joint projects will be submitted by Egypt during the meetings in the fields of information and archeological heritage in the Mediterranean countries.

Many countries will participate in this forum: Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Turkey, Malta, Greece, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal in addition to Egypt.

Luxor had hosted meetings of the Arab Parliamentary Federation last month. It will also host meetings of the Arab Labor Organization next March.
