France participates in the projects of Sheik Zayed channel
Egypt, Economics, 2/4/1998

Egyptian Minister of Public Works and Water Resources Dr. Mahmoud Abu Zeid said it was decided to start the second round of discussions between the Egyptian Ministry of Public Works and its French counterpart soon.

France expressed its desire to participate in the projects of the Sheik Zayed channel in Egypt within the greater project of Toshki. The French government had agreed to grant Egypt 2.7 million francs through the French International Consulting Office in addition to technical assistance in designing industrial establishments along the channel.

The assistance also includes applying modern methods of water control and distributing irrigation water to 540 acres as a first stage.

The Minister confirmed that the French government expressed its initial agreement to increase the grant to cover other activities in the project.
