Second educational conference opens in Damascus

Under the patronage of Syrian President Hafez al-Assad the second educational conference for developing education in Syria was opened on Monday in Damascus. The President was represented by Vice-President Muhammad Zuheir Masharga at the opening ceremony.
Giving an assessment of Syria's educational development, Masharga said in all its stages education in Syria seeks to build the sound charter of the citizen to enable him indulge in everyday life.
Secretary of the Arab League Education and Scientific Organization ALESCO Muhammad Milli al-Ibrahimi said the developments of the coming century will demand deep thinking to create suitable and successful education programs in the Arab states.
On the sideline of the conference, Syrian Premier Mahmoud al-Zou'bi on Monday discussed with ALECSO's director and with the director of the Islamic, Education, Sciences and Culture Organization, Abdul Aziz al-Twijari, activities of ALESCO and ISESCO and the second educational conference for developing education, SANA added.
