Erekat meets with Moussa, El-Baz
Palestine-Egypt, Politics, 2/3/1998
Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, met separately yesterday with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa and Osama El-Baz, president Mubarak's political advisor.
Erekat said after the two meetings that he had informed officials in Egypt of the consequences of the Ramallah talks.
Which took place the day before yesterday between the Palestinian Arafat and the American foreign ministers Madeleine Albright.
Erekat said he has explained to officials in Egypt the delicate situation in the peace process due to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's denial of the peace process references, continuation of confiscating lands for settlements, and continued destruction of Arab houses. He also said that it is obvious now that the Israeli prime minister considers Israel above the law, with no commitments to international legality or the UN Security Council, and that it never submits to international will, challenging the agreements it signed with the sponsorship of president Kanafani, the Palestinian president's counselor and Zohdi El-Kadra, the Palestinian ambassador in Cairo.
These Palestinian - Egyptian discussions come before US Secretary of Stated Madeleine Albright's arrival in Egypt to meet with Mubarak and Moussa and within the news of an impending visit by to Cairo an Israeli delegation headed by Danny Neveh, the secretary of the Israeli prime minister, to meet with El-Baz.
