Arab countries pursue implementation of Arab free trade zone
Regional, Economics, 2/3/1998

The implementation and follow-up committee for the Arab free trade zone will meet on Saturday at Arab League headquarters with the participation of permanent delegates from AL member states and deputies of Arab economic and commerce ministers.

The agenda includes discussions of four items, the procedures for implementing the Arab free trade zone, the agreed 10% customs reduction which went into effect last January, the structures for customs tariffs, and the non-customs limits and the list of prohibited imported goods.

The items include an agreement to facilitate and develop commercial exchange between the Arab countries.

The committee will also discuss a report from the technical goods work group on Arab agricultural goods after examining the establishment of a joint agriculture agenda for the Arab countries, which would specify seasons for producing agricultural goods.
