Jordanian economy would face huge losses if US attacks Iraq
Jordan, Politics, 1/31/1998
Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Jawad al-Annani told reporters, if "Military operations were to take place near Jordanian borders, it would cause heavy losses to Jordan."
"Jordan is still dependent highly upon Iraqi oil and Iraq is still the main Jordanian partner in trade," he added. Jordan might lose heavily this time again, al-Annani said.
"Jordan will again be the victim if Iraq is attacked," he said. "Jordan will be the biggest loser; it will pay heavily -- not just economically but also there might be a wave of refugees" to come to Jordan, he added.
