Yemeni speaker: Setback arises in border demarcation with Saudi Arabia
Yemen-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 1/31/1998
The speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, Sheikh Abdalla Al Ahmar, said there has been a setback in the discussion of border demarcation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen, but he expressed his hope that matters will return to normal and that everything can be rectified.
He added that he was surprised by this setback after progress was made and after the Yemeni President Ali Abdalla Saleh had repeatedly stated that the discussions over this issue are nearly over. He elaborated that it is unfortunate to have this crisis with Saudi Arabia, "as we expected good relations."
He also said current conditions in the Middle East peace process prove that it is about to die and that UN resolutions will not be implemented by Israel.
