Mubarak to inaugurate Cairo International Book Fair

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will inaugurate the 30th Cairo International Book Fair on February 5 in Nasr City.

The inauguration will be attended by Egyptian Premier Dr. Kamal El Ganzouri and the speakers of the People's Assembly (the parliament) and the Shura Council in addition to a number of ministers and ambassadors of foreign and Arab countries participating in the fair.

2,450 publishers from 79 countries will participate in the fair with 3.7 million books in 27 buildings. The Egyptian Minister of Culture will receive the Egyptian President on the inauguration day and explain how this fair has become one of the biggest book fairs in the world.

Mubarak will meet with a number of writers and thinkers in an open discussion which will tackle important issues on the national, Arab, and international levels.

Sudan is scheduled to participate in the fair after five years of absence.
