Humanitarian societies in Tunisia condemn Algeria massacres
Tunisia-Algeria, Politics, 1/30/1998

In a joint statement, 9 Tunisian humanitarian and human rights organizations condemned the massacres committed by the armed groups in Algeria.

They expressed their anger over the attacks on the Algerian people. The organizations called on the Algerian government to shed light on the recent massacres, identify those responsible for them, and hold trials for those who committed those massacres.

While the statement was being delivered to the Algerian ambassador in Tunisia, Ismail Alawa, tough words were exchanged between the two sides as the Algerian ambassador considered that this statement an intervention in internal affairs of Algerian.

Journalists, thinkers, politicians, and members of non-governmental organizations in Morocco called for the formation of a committee for solidarity with the Algerian people. They gathered hundreds of signatures for declaring solidarity with the victims of those massacres.
