Algerian Foreign Minister: Britain has become a safe haven for terrorists
Algeria, Politics, 1/30/1998

Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf said Britain has become a safe haven and a stronghold for terrorists who are in the country under the pretext of political asylum. He said Algeria is not against the right to grant political asylum but it is against misuse of that right.

In Tehran, the Supreme Leader of the Iranian Revolution Ali Khamenei said the Algerian government is considered responsible for the massacres targeting Algerian civilians.

Khamenei did not accuse the Algerian government of the direct responsibility for those massacres, but said it should provide its people with security. Khamenei called on the Organization of the Islamic Conference which is currently chaired by Iran to try to put an end to the massacres in Algeria.
