3 terrorists sentenced to death

An Egyptian state security judge announced yesterday that death sentences had been issued for three terrorists, two of whom were convicted in absentia.
He said the grand Mufti (the Muslim top clergy) had ratified death sentences passed earlier on Hassan Khalifa, Rifaat Zeidan and Abdl Hamid Osman for their part in attacks in which 26 policeman, including several senior officers, and eight Romanian nationals, were killed between 1993 and 1994.
The court yesterday sentenced four of them to life imprisonment with hard labor, three to 15 years, three to five years, and released 13, Al-Wafd daily.
