Moussa: Albright will visit Egypt
Egypt, International, 1/29/1998
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa stated that U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will pay a visit to Egypt at the end of her tour of Europe and the Middle East.
He said this visit is very important due to its timing, as it will be a chance to discuss many important regional issues and developments in the peace process in light of the continuation of the crisis on the Israeli-Palestinian peace track.
Moussa said during Arafat's visit to Egypt, the Palestinian leader briefed the Egyptian leadership on U.S. ideas, but there has not been any particular American proposal, there have been only ideas presented.
Moussa said he will meet with British Foreign Minister Derek Fatchett in Cairo next Tuesday within Egyptian efforts to salvage the peace process in the Middle East. The Egyptian Minister expressed his hope that Britain will exert more efforts in this concern while it chairs the European Union.
Moussa will meet with the general commissioner of the European Committee and the European envoy to the peace process, Miguel Moratinos, next Friday.
