Lebanese resistance attacks pro-Israeli militia position

Lebanese national resistance on Tuesday morning bombarded a group of pro-Israeli militia in Tomat Niha position in the occupied strip of south Lebanon. In a statement, the resistance said it scored direct hits.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces continued their aggression against areas adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon and the western Bekaa.

Security sources said the occupation artillery in Jezzine and Abu Kamha districts bombarded on Tuesday morning the hills of the western Bekaa and the populated quarters in the district of Ein al-Jaba. A Lebanese citizen was wounded and a number of houses were demolished.

A Lebanese man was killed when a bomb detonated in an Israeli-occupied enclave in south Lebanon, security sources said.

Tanios Helou, 57, was instantly killed when the roadside bomb went off as he was driving his pickup truck, loaded with cement, on the main Roum-Annan road near the town of Jezzine.

The Hizbullah group denied that its guerrillas had placed the bomb and a party official blamed Israel for the explosion.

The artillery shelling from Tomat Niha position was accompanied by heavy machine gun fire on the adjacent hills and valleys.

In south Lebanon, the Israeli artillery in al-Zaffata occupation position bombarded Okmata in al-Tuffah district.

Israeli gunners opened artillery fire on south Lebanon villages in the eastern sector of the zone, wounding a 26-year-old woman identified by Lebanese security sources as Hiam Yassin.

The sources said 50 shells landed around the village of Mashgara.

Lebanese resistance groups are fighting to oust Israeli troops and the Isreali-allied SLA (South Lebanese Army) from the 1.5 KM wide Israeli occupation zone in south Lebanon. The 1996 US-brokered April Understanding, which ended 17-days of Israeli blitzes against Lebanon, banned both the Lebanese resistance and the Israeli forces from targeting civilians on both sides of the border.
