Iranian envoy visits Damascus today

The director of the Iranian President's office and Iranian Cabinet member Muhammad Ali Abtahi arrives Damascus today for a short visit to Damascus during which he will deliver a communique to President Hafez al-Assad from his Iranian counterpart, Muhammad Khatami, The Iranian News Agency, IRNA, reported.
It added that Syrian Vice-President Abdul Halim Khaddam and Foreign Minister Farouk al-Sharaa will visit Tehran on February 14 to take part in the meeting of the Syrian-Iranian higher committee. Abtahi will make a similar visit to Lebanon where he will discuss with Lebanese officials developments in the Arab and international arenas and bilateral relations.
