Vollebaek: Israeli has no excuse for delaying peace
Regional, International, 1/26/1998
Norway's foreign minister, Kurt Vollebaek, appealed to the Israeli government not to use the internal political situation as an "excuse" for delaying peace moves with the Palestinians.
"My message to the Israeli government is please continue. Yes, the crisis is a problem but the Oslo accords are there, please go ahead with them," Vollebaek said.
"Don't make this crisis an excuse for not implementing the accords because it could be detrimental to the situation and it could be very serious if half a year passes with absolutely no movement" he said, Al-Jumhoria.
