Sheikh Ahmed Yassin refuses to meet Netanyahu
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 1/23/1998

Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, the leader of the Islamic resistance movement (Hamas), refused to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Netenyahu.

Yassin said, "I may say to him study history to see the crisis happened to the Jews in the world, where they had found throughout the year no one to protect them but the Palestinians - is that how the Jews repay us?"

He said his movement will not attack any Israeli civilian targets as long as the Israelis do not attack Palestinian civilian targets.

He added that, Hamas has its own stable strategy and that it had never attacked Israeli civilians except as a reaction to the Israeli aggression on Palestinian civilians like what happened in Al-Aqsa mosque, El-Galili mosque, and all the Palestinian cities.

He described his relation with President Arafat as good and said the problems with Palsetine are due to Israeli and American pressure.
